Used for:
This medicine is an androgen hormone inhibitor used to treat male pattern hair loss FOR MEN ONLY.
Before taking:
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with finasteride. TELL YOUR DOCTOR of all prescription and nonprescription medicine that you are taking. Tell your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, or pregnancy. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU ARE FEMALE. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Propecia®.
Directions for Propecia®:
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. THIS MEDICINE COMES WITH A PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET. READ IT CAREFULLY. Ask your doctor any questions that you may have about this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a cool dark location, in a tightly-closed container, away from moisture.
IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS for this medicine to work. Do not stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Stopping the use of Propecia® will result in a return within 12 months to the same amount of baldness as when you started. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are taking this drug. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or nonprescription, check with your doctor or pharmacist. ANY WOMAN WHO IS PREGNANT OR WHO MAY BECOME PREGNANT SHOULD NOT HANDLE CRUSHED OR BROKEN TABLETS OF THIS MEDICINE. If a woman who is pregnant comes in contact with crushed or broken tablets of Propecia®, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
Side effects:
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this drug is a change in sexual function. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience the following side effects or symptoms of toxicity: skin rash and/or swelling of lips. If you notice other side effects not listed above, contact your doctor.
Drug interactions:
DRUG INTERACTIONS can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job. Please check with your Doctor or Pharmacist to determine if you have drug interaction problem.
Overdose:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
